Rocket Raccoon Solo Comic

Our favorite Marvel cuddly bad ass (Not Squirrel Girl) is going to be shining in his own comic book series this coming July, one month before the summer blockbuster hits theatres.

"I think it's going to have a connection to that nostalgic feeling for 'Looney Tunes,' that old animated flavor where everything wasn't squeaky clean, you know? Daffy Duck would get his bill blasted off with double barrel shotguns... That's what I grew up watching, and being able to play around with that in this hyper-superhero intergalactic universe will be a lot of fun."

As the issue #1 cover suggests, Rocket's buddy and awesome talking tree friend / muscle Groot will also play a role in the book. In fact, at one point the series was billed as "Rocket Raccoon and Groot." "I felt that it would be a disservice to that character if we naturally focused on Rocket all the time, and had [Groot] as a side thing, but with his name in the title," said Young. "But you can't have one without the other, so he's not going anywhere. He's not going to be on every page, but he's definitely going to play big roles in all the stories I have in mind. He's definitely going to be his buddy throughout all the stories."
Can't wait for this book, i'm a huge fan of the series as a whole but to give Groot and Rocket a story of there own is amazing and should be hilarious.

Guardians of the Galaxy Villain Revealed

After the scene in Avengers fans have been hyped to the max about Thanos being the main bad guy in the sequel... Avengers 2: Age of Ultron says differently of course, so we were still excited because the villain was still going to show up in Guardians of the Galaxy and it turns out he's not the main bad guy he's more of a behind the scenes guy while the confirmed villain turns out to be Ronan the Accuser! For those of you unfamiliar with the bad guy here are some points:

  1. He's Kree (Which makes it interesting since Fox owns the Fantastic Four and the villains etc.)
  2. Super Strong, endurance, Armor
  3. The universal weapons has cosmic energy which can be used for a variety of affects and adds more power to Ronan, Gravity, Force Fields, Energy Absorption, skilled solider and master strategist he'll give the hand to hand fighters a run for their money.
Just a little Fox to Marvel lesson:
Kree is owned by Fox
Ronan was married to Crystal from Inhumans that is owned by Marvel
Quicksilver was also married to Crystal which will be featured in both Days of Future Past and Avengers both owned by the opposing companies and portrayed by two different actors.

"Ronan The Accuser is very much the main bad guy," "And Thanos is lurking above it all. You will learn more about Thanos in Guardians, for sure. Certainly you'll get more than the one turn around and smirk. You'll get much more than that!"

Guardians of the Galaxy advice from Joss Whedon

Joss Whedon has some advice on the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy film, regarding how the universe should be and where the direction of the film should go:

“I’ve talked to them [Marvel] about the story from the beginning, and the different drafts. One of the questions they asked me was ‘What do you think of James Gunn?’ And I giggled like a school girl because I was like ‘Oh, this movie is going to work.’”

“My only piece of advice has been: I want to hear more of James. Let’s pull out the formula. Give me more James. Make it weirder. The only way to achieve that Star Wars vibe is not to chase it – is try to be an original universe and have all the fun and do all that stuff.

“And James is… he’s perfect for that because even I said, “A raccoon?” And James’s thing was “Here’s the deal. It’s about the raccoon. This is why I love it: because of the raccoon and the tree.” And I’m like, “Okay, that’s the guy you need.’”

James Gunn knows his movies and has the imagination to create the space universe and continuity is limitless, Guardians of the Galaxy is looking amazing and it's only great news from here until the movie is released.

Marvel wants Vin Diesel to meet

Vin Diesel has posted on his Facebook page this quote which has us all wondering and theorizing:

"Marvel has requested a meeting... no idea what for... haha, you probably know better than me..."
Which role will he be cast in? He came out and said he wanted to play the Vision, could the Vision be included in the Avengers 2? Or maybe other roles that fit that could work such as:

  1. Groot  from Guardians of the Galaxy
  2. Major Victory from Guardians of the Galaxy
  3. The Thing from Fantastic Four
  4. Silver Surfer?
  5. Adam Warlock?
  6. Thanos?? (Highly unlikely)

Benicio Del Toro's Top Secret Role In Guardians Of The Galaxy

Benicio Del Toro has got some explaining to do, apparently the Oscar winning actor has landed a role in Marvel's 2014 movie Guardians of the Galaxy... but as who.. we don't know yet.

"he’s playing a character that is built to be part of future Marvel films, which means he has signed a deal with options that put him into multiple movies."

Now fanboys have of course gone into a frenzy and decided for us that he's playing Thanos since he's most likely the one that will have a multi movie contract. Just in case no one knew the actor for Thanos is already filled? Damion Poitier gave a non-speaking cameo as Thanos at the end of Avengers so chances are he might just keep his role in future Marvel movies (I doubt he'd be the kind to ask for more money, or have schedule conflicts.) Since were talking about Guardians of the Galaxy we can say the roles may or may not be limited.

That leaves who Benicio can play:

  • Adam Warlock
  • Dr. Strange? (I know it's a stretch but it could explain the multi-movie deal from the quote.)
  • Silver Surfer? (If the rights can be used of course.)
  • Captain Marvel?
  • Firelord aka Pyreus Kril (An ally of the Guardians of the Galaxy and Nova Corps.... with both teams being in the movie could this be his role revealed?)

Glenn Close Leads Nova Corps?!

Glenn Close has a role in the Marvel space film Guardians of the Galaxy... as the leader of the Nova Corps and if that's enough proof that the Nova Corps are being featured than how about this quote:

"Glenn Close is playing a leadership role in Nova Corp, the intergalactic space patrol. ... Close’s role would be the closest thing to the one that Samuel L. Jackson plays in Marvel’s Avengers movie."

Glenn as a Nick Fury kind of character.. sign me up! She's brilliant and cant wait to see this role brought to light! And if she has some Nova power I'll throw my money at movie theatres until summer 2014!

Zoe Saldana officially plays Gamora

Getting the green light from the Guardians of the Galaxy themselves I'm glad to confirm Zoe Saldana no longer talks about being Gamora... SHE IS GAMORA! For those fans wondering if she'll do motion capture like in Avatar this quote from Zoe should answer that:

"No, she's definitely going to be makeup, so it'll be me. Thank God!"

Well for most of you it's obvious the thought of Zoe Saldana half naked and in green make-up all over her body... it's been real it's obvious I've lost you in thought.

With the possibility of Nova and the Nova Corps can this featured image be a movie reality?

Guardians of the Galaxy getting a visit from the Nova Corps?!

Guardians of the Galaxy might just prove the universe is big enough for more than one galaxy defending team, in the latest for Marvel's space movie Guardians of the Galaxy the Nova Corps could be making an appearance which honestly scares me and excites me at the same time.

With Thanos coming I'll always say this and stay on the subject of us as earth needing all the help we can help and if that means we pull out all the stops to save our galaxy then bring on the Nova Corp! Although I'm pretty sure that myself and other fans are hoping the man under the helmet is Richard Ryder! His banter with Star-Lord would be a priceless experience and no movie goer should be robbed of that.

Michael Rooker cast as Yondu for Guardians of the Galaxy

Guardians of the Galaxy news! Michael Rooker our beloved racist red neck from the Walking Dead as Merle doesn't have time to rest since he's been cast in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie as none other than Yondu!

I'm mighty shocked actually since Yondu is from the original team and we all thought it was going to focus on the modern team, never been more glad to be wrong and surprised!

Yondu serves as the team's archer and tribal mystic of sorts to the team, having empathy to nature and his trusty bow and arrow what's not to love about this casting and this character?!

With Yondu's inclusion can other members of the classic team make the cut into the movie? Maybe Major Victory can make an appearance? Stay tuned to darkphoenixinc.blogspot.com for more up to date and frequent news and updates.

Guess whose playing Arthur Sampson Douglas

Guardians of the Galaxy casting just keeps getting better and better Marvel fans the lean, mean and green... no not the Hulk by the way, Drax the Destroyer earns his title by being a champion of sorts and a strong and lethal one at that. His strength, durability and overall combatant skills makes who they cast for him a no brainier.

Dave Bautista has been cast to portray the fighter in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy beating out several other candidates such as Isaiah Mustafa, Patrick Wade and Jason Momoa. One unique power he has that can blow your minds right now is he can sense Thanos presence across the galaxy if needed.

After his resurrection this power changed to beings who have been in contact with Thanos (The breach of trust for Gamora i mentioned.) And perhaps the most mind blowing of them all is sensing those who will be in contact with Thanos in the near future... Can Drax be making a surprise visit to Iron Man 3 due out next month?!

Zoe Saldana in talks to play Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy

More casting news or possible rumor surrounding Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Zoe Saldana aka Columbiana aka Uhura is in negotiations to play the deadly female lead role of none other than Gamora! The beautiful green skinned vixen has A LOT on her resume to make her deadly not only is she skilled with swords, knives and other sharp objects; Others can consider her one of the skilled and deadliest martial artists Marvel has to offer.

With those deadly skills Zoe is going to have so much fun in this role she's used to playing bad asses in her other movies, acrobatics, sword training and speed is really what she'll have to work towards to rock this role and I can't wait to see it even more!

With Guardians of the Galaxy as a team based movie you guys think a breach of trust is going to happen when they find out who her adopted father is?

Guardians of the Galaxy movie part of Marvel's Phase two?!

Marvel has big plans and is really doing all they can to make sure the big plans for Thanos story wise are all connected and make every bit of sense possible! So who better to tell the story of the Titan before he had his power glove... The Guardians of the Galaxy of course! The 2008 team reboot will be getting the live action movie treatment August 1st 2014 with the initial roster of Drax the Destroyer, Groot, Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, and Gamora!? What a way to start off a movie huh comic fans?! James Gunn (Awesome genius behind Lollipop Chainsaw mind you.) Is going to be directing this movie along with Joss Whedon so it can connect to the Marvel Movie family. I trust James Gunn to give us a great epic seeing as how he's a Marvel Comics geek who loves space and sci-fi and raccoons! I know I'm not the only person really hype to see a CGI Rocket Raccoon am i?

So far the story is going to be revolved around The Guardians of the Galaxy and there first encounter with Thanos before he comes here so one can say it's a prequel to a mad titan with lots of action and deep story telling on a planet that is not earth, sure as hell can't wait to see this and more info that comes along with it!

Captain America served as a prequel to the Avengers and the invasion... Guardians of the Galaxy serves as a prequel to Thanos!!
